Attracting Birds To Your Yard With Bird Feeders
Do you enjoy a variety of birds chirping blissfully in your yard? Do you want to attract a larger variety of species than you already have? Bird feeders are an excellent source of getting the attention of a variety of birds to your yard that you may not already have.
Below are four bird feeder ideas that you should choose from.
1. An open log or a patio edge is popular with sparrows and doves.
2. A stump or any post-mounted, flat-topped feeder will attract finches and blue jays.
3. Acrobatic birds like tit-mice come to feeders swinging five to six off the ground. Cut holes in a milk carton and hang.
4. Brown creepers, nuthatches and woodpeckers eat from suet holders on tree trunks.
You can make homemade bird feeders that will give birds energy for cold winter months. Take an apple, cut it in half, spread peanut butter on the apple then top with bird seed. Tie a string around it and hang out doors on a tree trunk. Most birds love this natural treat. It gives them the protein they need. Check to see if the apple has not rotted. A rotting apple can make birds sick. Suet, as mentioned above, is also an excellent source of protein for birds.
Having male canaries and finches in your home is another way to attract birds to your yard. During spring and summer when your windows are open, wild canaries and finches will hear the sounds of your birds and be drawn to your yard.
