Summer Entertainment For Children

Are you running out of ideas to keep your children entertained? Are your children constantly asking you what they can do to have fun? Are you looking for creative indoor activities that can keep your children and their friends productive during the heat of the day?

Below are four fun ideas that your children and their friends will love.

1. Play Dough: Make homemade play dough for your children that they can spend hours creating dinosaurs, ships, animals and etc. You can purchase a wide variety of reasonably priced kid cookie cutters that can be used to cut out figures and add various colors of play dough to. A free homemade play dough recipe is included on our Aaron's Online Boutique Website. See recipe below.

2. Tea Party: Little girls love tea parties. Send out invitations to friends and family members. On the invitation request the girls attend in dress up costumes. This will add to the atmosphere of the tea party and can be used for hours of play time later. Aaron's Online Boutique offers a variety of fun dress up clothing.

For food, you can make small finger sandwiches out of colored bread. You can purchase colored bread from various bakeries. It may need to be ordered ahead of time. Spread with peanut butter, flavored cream cheese, tuna or chicken spread. Water, with a slice of lemon is a good drink. For desert, you can bake a white cake (cake mix works fine) on a thin cookie sheet. After cake has cooled, cut out various fun shapes with cookie cutters and then ice with pastel colored frosting. Add colored candy sprinkles if desired.

3. Fishing: Yes, fishing can been done indoors with small children. Place a plastic table cloth under a large plastic container. Fill about 1/4 full with water. Drill a small hole into a wooden dowel and tightly tie a string through it. Leave a long piece of the string hanging. At the other end of the string, glue gun a small magnet. Purchase plastic or wooden fish. These can be found at party or craft stores. Glue gun a magnet to each fish. The children can use the wooden dowels as fishing poles and pick up the fish by connecting the magnets.

Caution: Do not leave children unattended. It is dangerous to leave children unattended around any amount of water. Also, they can hurt themselves with the fishing pole if they fall on the ends of it.

4. Puppet Show: Either finger puppets or hand puppets can be made out of felt. They are inexpensive and easy to make. If you do not wish to use felt, you can color and cut out characters from children's coloring books and glue them on a tongue depressor or a long straw. You can make a puppet stage out of cardboard or thin pieces of wood. Cut out a large section in the center and paint and use glitter to decorate the stage.

Puppet shows are an excellent way for children to be creative. You will be surprised at how many hours of fun your children and their friends will have acting out various characters. You can make animals, prince and princes puppets, plus countless other puppets. (see some of our fun children's costumes)

These are just a few ideas for summer fun. Memories will be made as you are creative with various activities for your children.
