Chocolate Food Ideas For Baby Showers, Bridal Showers & Wedding Receptions
Chocolate is known for it's addicting flavor and elegant appeal. It is versatile in it's use for any occasion and perhaps the most common desert presented to guests at parties and fancy events. Aaron's Online Boutique has put together some of our favorite chocolate recipe ideas for our visitors to enjoy. Below is just a few of them.
CHOCOLATE DIPPED SUGAR COOKIES-You can find different cookie cutters at several types of stores. Aaron's Online Boutique includes a moist and puffy sugar cookie recipe that would be excellent for dipping in chocolate. It is not too sweet. The cookie works great with the Chocolate Fountain or Chocolate Fondue techniques below.
CHOCOLATE CARAMEL PRETZELS-You can purchase from a specialty store caramel and melting chocolate. Groceries stores also carry caramel and chocolate. My personal favorite chocolate is Girrardelli melting chocolate which can be purchased at most grocery stores. My favorite caramel is purchased from a specialty store in my area. If you can not find the caramel anywhere else, a bag of individually wrapped caramels from the grocery store is the closest in quality and taste.
Buy large, thick pretzels (or regular pretzels) at the grocery store. Slice the caramel in thin slices and wrap them around the pretzels. Lastly, melt the chocolate in the microwave at 15-30 second intervals until it becomes runny. Pour over pretzels. Be careful not to overcook the chocolate. You just want the chocolate to become runny enough to pour. *Note: Place pretzels on plastic wrap or a cookie sheet so the chocolate doesn't stick. Let chocolate completely cool before removing.
You can purchase clear bags and ties from Wall Mart in the wedding supply section, to individually place the chocolate pretzels in. Makes a great gift.
CHOCOLATE CANDIES-Two of my favorite homemade chocolate candies are Oreo Chocolate Truffles and Pecan or Cashew Chocolate Caramel Chews. These two recipes are absolutely delightful. They are little more expensive and time consuming than chocolate covered cookies or pretzels but, are amazingly delicious and elegant.
Buy any size of baking cupcake style liner. Place a lawyer of caramel on the bottom of the liner. Next, place a layer of pecans or cashews on top of the caramel. Lastly, cover with melted chocolate. Let sit until completely cooled before serving.
CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN-This is always one of my personal favorites for baby showers, wedding receptions and etc. You can purchase a chocolate fountain at specialty stores for a reasonable price. Some fancy department stores also carry chocolate fountains. It is possible to rent chocolate fountains from wedding party supply stores. White or dark melting chocolate can be found at the same type of stores or in grocery stores. Fountains are easy and fun to
use. Melt chocolate in the fountain and let it stream down the sides for people to cover fruit, cake, pretzels, cookies, etc.
*Note: You can cut angel food cake in squares. Stick with tooth picks for easy dipping.
CHOCOLATE FONDUE-This is basically the same concept as the chocolate fountain except, the chocolate is melted in a pot. Fruit, cake, pretzels, cookies, and other types of food can be put on a long stick and dipped in the fondue pot. If you are offering this at a wedding reception, you will want someone standing next to the fondue who can keep an eye on things. (this also applies to the chocolate fountain) Children often become fascinated and can make a mess with the chocolate or accidently drop items of food into the chocolate. They will need supervision.
